Your Moroccan Tour depart Marrakech in the early morning, heading southeast toward the majestic High Atlas Mountains. The winding road climbs steadily through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, offering spectacular panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and traditional Berber villages clinging to mountainsides. Along the way, we pause to capture photos of the dramatic landscape and observe daily life in remote mountain communities.

Descending into the pre-Saharan region, we reach the legendary fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most photographed locations and backdrop to countless Hollywood films. After exploring this remarkable earthen citadel with a local guide, we continue through the Skoura Oasis and Valley of Roses, where locals harvest fragrant petals for cosmetics and rose water. Our day concludes in the spectacular Dades Valley, where we settle into a traditional riad surrounded by towering red rock formations and ancient kasbahs.

Following breakfast with views of the Dades Gorges, we venture deeper into Morocco’s desert heartland, passing through landscapes that shift from green oases to golden wilderness. Our first stop is the magnificent Todra Gorge, where towering limestone cliffs create a narrow canyon perfect for a refreshing walk alongside the crystal-clear river that carved these ancient walls over millennia.

Continuing eastward, we reach Erfoud, renowned throughout Morocco for its abundant date palms and fascinating fossil workshops where craftsmen transform ancient marine creatures into beautiful decorative items. As afternoon approaches, the landscape transforms into true Sahara terrain, and we arrive in Merzouga where patient camels await to carry us across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. After witnessing a spectacular desert sunset, we gather around a campfire for traditional Berber music and storytelling before sleeping beneath the star-filled desert sky.

Rise early to witness the desert awakening with a magnificent sunrise painting the dunes in shades of gold and amber before returning to Merzouga village by camel. After breakfast and freshening up, we begin our journey westward through the ancient trading town of Rissani, where we explore the bustling traditional market that has served desert communities for centuries.

Our route follows the historic Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley, lined with thousands of date palms and traditional kasbahs that once protected precious water sources along trans-Saharan trade routes. We traverse varied landscapes from desert plains to palm oases, passing through Berber villages where time seems to stand still. The day ends in Ouarzazate, Morocco’s gateway to the Sahara and famous film production center, where we spend the night in comfortable accommodation.

Our final morning begins with exploration of Ouarzazate’s famous film studios, where movies like “Gladiator” and “Lawrence of Arabia” were filmed, before returning to Ait Ben Haddou for a more leisurely visit to this UNESCO World Heritage masterpiece. Climbing through the ancient streets of this fortified village provides incredible views across the surrounding desert landscape and insight into traditional Berber architecture that has remained unchanged for centuries.

The journey back to Marrakech takes us once again over the High Atlas Mountains, but traveling in the opposite direction reveals entirely new perspectives of this dramatic landscape. We arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon, completing our circular desert adventure filled with memories of golden dunes, ancient cultures, and the timeless magic of Morocco’s Sahara region.
